BNB Burn Fun

BNB Donation Address:
Send to a Person

BNB is the only major asset with a permanent, automatic, ongoing burn written into its protocol. A fixed share of every transaction fee is destroyed under BEP-95 BEP-95, and a quarterly Auto-Burn removes more on top, all pointed at the same blackhole address. On top of that sits one serious hazard: BNB and Ethereum share an identical address format, and getting the network wrong is unrecoverable.

Read this before sending BNB. BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum use the identical 0x address format, so the address alone cannot tell you which network you are on. If your wallet says Ethereum while you send BNB, the transfer can succeed and the funds will be stranded. Confirm BNB Smart Chain and chain ID 56 in your own wallet before you send anything.

Mechanics

How BNB burns, automatically and on schedule

Two mechanisms run at once. Neither depends on any holder deciding to destroy anything, and both send the tokens to the same destination.

BEP-95 real-time burn

Introduced in 2021. In every block, a fixed proportion of the gas fees collected is burned outright. The proportion is set by BNB Smart Chain validators, so the rate adapts to network conditions rather than being fixed in advance.

Quarterly Auto-Burn

A scheduled event whose size is derived from BNB's market price and the number of blocks the chain produced over the quarter. The stated goal is to bring total supply toward 100,000,000 BNB, and each burn is reported publicly.

The blackhole address

BNB Chain calls its dead address the blackhole. Since the BNB Chain Fusion process, scheduled burns occur directly on BNB Smart Chain, with the tokens sent to that address rather than being handled off-chain.

Critical

The chain ID trap: the one mistake that costs everything

BNB Smart Chain uses the same 0x address format as Ethereum. The address is identical on both networks, so nothing about the address itself will tell you you are on the wrong chain.

Practical

Before you send BNB

Three checks that take under a minute and prevent the only mistake that cannot be undone.

Confirm the chain ID

BNB Smart Chain is 56. Ethereum is 1. Your wallet must say BNB Smart Chain, not Ethereum.

Check the asset

Sending to a correct 0x address still fails if your wallet sends the wrong asset on that network.

Compare the address fully

Forty hex characters. Scan the QR inside your own wallet rather than copying from an untrusted page.

Reversibility

None. There is no support path once a transfer confirms.

Questions

BNB redirect questions

Answers to the questions people ask most before sending. If anything here conflicts with the Risk Disclaimer, that document takes precedence.

What is the BNB Auto-Burn?
A scheduled quarterly mechanism whose size is calculated from BNB's price and the number of blocks BNB Smart Chain produced during the quarter. Its purpose is to move total supply toward a target of 100,000,000 BNB. Each burn is announced publicly with the amount and the transaction ID.
Why do BNB burns go to 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD?
That is the BNB Chain blackhole address, a dead address with no usable private key. Since the BNB Chain Fusion process, scheduled burns take place directly on BNB Smart Chain with the tokens sent to that address rather than being handled separately.
What is chain ID 56 and why does it matter?
Chain ID 56 identifies BNB Smart Chain. It matters because BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum use the identical 0x address format, so the same address is valid on both. If you send BNB while your wallet is pointed at Ethereum, the transfer can succeed and the funds will be stranded on a network you did not intend.
Is BNB burning because of transaction fees?
Partly. BEP-95 burns a fixed proportion of gas fees in every block, separate from the quarterly Auto-Burn. That real-time mechanism means some BNB is continuously removed from supply regardless of how many tokens you personally hold. BEP-95
What happened to the BNB Beacon Chain?
The BNB Beacon Chain was wound down under BEP-333, which retired it in stages and moved its functionality into BNB Smart Chain; the final sunset hard fork halted the chain on 19 November 2024. If you still hold a balance on the retired Beacon Chain, it is not spendable on BNB Smart Chain, and the Beacon Chain endpoint no longer accepts transactions. BEP-333
Does CryptoBurn Fun take a cut or hold my BNB?
Neither. The transfer goes directly from your wallet to the recipient's wallet on BNB Smart Chain. There is no custody, no platform fee, no account, and no point at which CryptoBurn Fun holds your tokens.
